Parent volunteers are needed to help with pizza sales on Early-Release Day, Wednesdays. The funds raised at this event go towards Foundation-supported programs.
Ceramic Tiles & Apparel Sales

Parent volunteers are needed to help with promotion, ceramic-tile parties, and coordinating the firing and installation of completed tiles. These tiles are painted by parents and students and are used to decorate the outside of our library. TPES apperal will be sold by volunteers at various school functions. The funds raised through this program go towards Foundation-supported programs.

Help is needed to provide refreshments for Foundation and school functions. The funds raised at these functions go towards our Teacher Appreciation Luncheons.

Music and Concerts

The Music Committee
Parent volunteers are needed to help with preparation and managing musical events.

Parent volunteers are needed to help with preparation, mounting artwork, and managing art competitions.
Main Contact: Julie Lin This Committee oversees technology usage to fully take advantage of the benefits it has to offer TPES students. Parent volunteers are need to assist in classrooms and to provide some technical support.

LONG-TERM COMMUNITY SUPPORT
These volunteer opportunities require 30 minutes or more on a regular basis and over the course of the year - these are not fundraisers.

Students are invited to run or walk four mornings a week. Laps are tallied and students have the opportunity to reach milestones and earn achievement awards. Parent volunteers are needed to help with stamping cards, sorting cards, and general help on Tues., Wed., and Thurs., mornings from about 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

Do you enjoy working with students? This program reaches out to those students who need a little more one-on-one help with reading. This is program is wonderful. If you’re interested in helping students read then this is the volunteer opportunity for you.
Year Book Club
Chair: Laurence Cagnon
The yearbook team is for the artists among us! We need parent volunteers that are interested in working with students to create the year book. We also are looking for parents who enjoy designing, layout, photography as well as sales and marketing!

Civic-minded parents are needed to help guide a small group of students through their first experience as leaders! You’ll be involved with organizing elections, holding fundraisers for the annual dance, and planning Spirit Week.
TPES Family Events

Community building is an important part of the Foundation’s mission. The Foundation organizes fun social events on campus as well as TPES Family Nights Out. We need parent volunteers to help organize the events -- especially, during
Turn Your TV Off Week, March 19-23.

The foundation communicates through their weekly e-newsletter the e-twig, their every other month e-zine branching out, the website, and the school’s message board. We need parents who are interested in being a part of this strong communications team.

Volunteers are needed daily to help supervise children on the playground.

The TPES Foundation organizes three sessions, Fall, Winter and Spring, to enrich Wednesday afternoons for TPES students. Volunteers are needed to help direct students to their classes at early dismissal from 12:30-1:00 pm each Wednesday beginning September 19.
La Jolla Art and Wine Festival (Oct 13 - 14)

La Jolla Art and Wine Festival returns to the streets of downtown La Jolla for a fourth year. Last year's festival featured over 150 of the best local artists, drew nearly 30,000 attendees and, since 2009, returned nearly $120,000 to area schools. This fundraiser is seeking committee members and volunteers for 2012.

Science Discovery Day (March 27)

During this action-packed day of science, students take part in a number of age-appropriate, interesting and educational presentations. Help is needed setting up, assisting presenters and managing students. New presenters are welcome. TPES parents working in the field of science are encouraged to volunteer as presenters.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon (June)
Chair: Carolyn Lennon
At this luncheon we celebrate the year with our teachers and thank them for all they do everyday for our children. We need parents who would be interested in helping with set-up, food, and event management.
Field Days (June 3-4)
Chair: Jeni Lentin
Over two mornings we celebrate the year with our students by offering them a morning filled with fun competitive field games! Parents are needed to organize the event and manage the different games.
The Online Holiday Auction (Oct-Dec)
Chair: Karen Krampe
The third annual online auction will offer a great opportunity to shop for the holidays and support TPES at the same time. Volunteers are needed to solicit and gather donations in October and November and help distribute items after the online event.
Heart & Sole Walk-a-Thon (February 14)
Chair: Susan Wiczynski
Students are asked to walk laps for which they have received pledges. Parent volunteers are needed to prepare the walk, create and distribute necessary forms, hand-out water, supervise and encourage students, bring students to and from classrooms, and help with final tally of laps. The funds raised at this event go towards Foundation-supported programs.
Scholastics Book Fair (March 11-15)

Parent volunteers will be needed to set up the book fair, offer classes a preview of the fair’s offering, and serve as cashiers over the course of this week-long event. Book fair proceeds go towards books and supplies for the classroom.
The Spring Gala (April 19)
Co-Chairs: Jennifer Cavanaugh & Irene McCann
This is our largest fundraiser and needs parent volunteers who will plan, prepare, and manage the event. Many volunteers are needed to collect donations for the auction, help with classroom art for auction, and so much more. Everything from one hour to days of work is needed. The funds raised make up a very large percentage of the Foundations overall fundraising for the year.
