RUNNING CLUB REACHES THE SOUTH POLE!! During the month of May our running club completed 1,495 miles for an overall total of nearly 12,746 miles, an all-time record and reaching the South Pole! Way to go TPES! May Stats / Miles by Students (log in required)
We set our sights on a mileage goal unlike any we've ever had before. We wanted to complete the distance between the North and South Poles "as the crow flies." That's 12,416 miles. And guess what?! We did it! Congratulations TPES!

MORE THAN 260 STUDENTS
REACH 5 MILES! WOW!!
Congratulations to these students for reaching 5 miles!
(If we missed taking your 5-mile picture please come and see us at Running Club so we can add your photo.)
We just have to share the following from TPES families and most recently our "stellar" Kindergarten Teacher, Ms. Udell! Please feel free to send us your comments!
In Ms. Udell's Weekly News to her parents: "... This is another of the stellar TPES programs that is well run and so valuable for the students. Children may run/walk or even just walk if necessary. Parents and even younger siblings are invited to run too. My thinking is that it builds an early sense of the importance of exercise, self discipline and a great sense of accomplishment. The students are rewarded (with charms and awards) at various mileage intervals. When the children in our class reach a mileage goal, we acknowledge them with a HIP HIP HOORAY! I just wish that every child in every school could join a Running Club like the one at TPES! This is a sports program that makes every child a winner! Check out the Running Club website to see the fun incentives."

A big 'thank you' to you and the other volunteers for coordinating the TPES running club. The photo collage is adorable! My son and I really enjoy this opportunity to do something fun together. It's also a great way for him to burn off some excess energy before school starts.

"...many thanks are due to Principal Solo, both of you (Jen Lentin and Natacha Hosy), and the many volunteers who make this possible. As new parents of a kindergartener, we have been listening and reading and trying to follow the recommendations put forward to us. Running Club was recommended; we tried it out; and [our daughter] absolutely loves it. It's something she wants to do in the morning - and looks forward to doing. We appreciate you making it possible."
HAVEN'T STARTED YET? DON'T WORRY. It's never too late to participate! You can join anytime! Get your students and families to school by 8:05am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to participate in our Miles Ahead Running Club. Your efforts and theirs will pay off. You will see your student make great progress in their running and fitness while enjoying the time in the morning with their friends.
